Q : How long does the design process take? Is there a way to speed up the process?

A : Since we provide a vast range of services, each project is unique as are their timelines! After we have conducted our site visit and discussed your project with you we are able to provide a more accurate timeline. Typically, upon completing a site visit it takes the team approximately two weeks to complete your preliminary design. The timeline between preliminary design and final design depends on if the client requests changes. Once the design is finalized, the final construction documentation is expected to be complete in up to two weeks. Our team submits for permit in a timely manner and coordinates with the town to obtain your permit. The length of time to obtain your permit is determined on the promptitude of the plans examiners.

We advise letting your designer know as soon as possible if you are on a specific timeline, we will do everything in our power to complete your project as quickly as possible! Advising your designer of this also allows us to source products and services from vendors with great lead times!

Q : What happens if I don’t like the design?

A: This is completely okay and we do not take it personally! Our priority if our clients satisfaction. The beginning of the design process is when we are learning your preferred style and what you want for your project. If you don’t like the first preliminary design we present to you, we will discuss what you did and did not like from the design and we will make changes accordingly. We understand that visualizing an idea on paper can be difficult, for this reason we offer 3D photorealistic renderings and 3D photorealistic walkthroughs!

Q : What type of homes do you design for?

A: We have been designing homes of many different styles for over 20 years! We design for custom new builds, renovations, additions, detached garages, carriage houses, decks you name it!

Q : How much will my project cost?

A: Every project is unique. In order for us to estimate the cost of your project, we will discuss the scope of work required with you and conduct a site visit if needed. When we have enough information on the project, that is when we can draft a fees proposal for our services. There are many factors that account for your budget, such as project scope of work, size of project, how quickly you can make decisions and how involved you would like us to be in the project.

Q : What is Bailey Designs design style?

A: As designers, we are educated and trained to listen to our clients aesthetic and functional needs and help create a style that bests suits them! Each designer has a design style that resonates when them, however we do not specialize in one specific style. Each project’s style takes inspiration from our clients’ needs.

Q : Can you help obtain a permit for our project?

A: Yes! Upon completion of the design, whether it is a custom new build, commercial space, detached garage or legal second suite we can take the stress of obtaining a permit off your hands! We are experienced with permit submission and coordinating with municipalities to help you obtain a permit for your project.
